The tasking window is the time frame during which the satellite will attempt to capture your image. It is crucial to select the optimal duration for your tasking window, which typically depends on your specific use case requirements. While SkyFi's default tasking window is 4 weeks, you can shorten it to a window as short as a day if necessary. However, keep in mind that shorter tasking windows may have a lower success rate due to weather or operator constraints. To increase your chances of success, we recommend selecting the longest possible tasking window that still fits your requirements. Additionally, be sure to place your order at least 24 hours prior to the tasking window start date, in the timezone of your area of interest.
Consider the level of cloudiness permitted during your image capture. If the capture time is more important than the level of cloudiness, you can increase the level of permitted cloudiness to allow the satellite to capture an image regardless of clouds. However, keep in mind that a higher level of permitted cloudiness may result in a cloudier image.
SkyFi offers both daytime and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) sensors for image capture. Daytime imagery is captured using visible light, while SAR imagery uses microwaves to see through clouds. Although the resulting image is black and white, selecting a SAR sensor can significantly increase the likelihood of a successful capture, regardless of weather conditions.
If your image capture is time-sensitive or critical, select the high priority option when placing your order. This increases the likelihood that your specific task will not be confined to operator constraints, further optimizing your chances of a successful image capture.
