SkyFi has released SkyFi ATAK Plug-in v2, the latest version of its Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) integration. This update gives defense, public safety, and emergency response teams more direct control over how they access and manage commercial satellite imagery in the field.
The plug-in works on Android-based TAK devices and does not require a custom server or additional hardware. Teams can access high-resolution satellite imagery from within the ATAK environment, including in disconnected conditions.
SkyFi ATAK Plug-in v2 includes several improvements designed for field operations:
Draw, name, and save custom AOIs (Areas of Interest)
Define AOIs using a pin drop, geographic coordinates, or current GPS location
Automatically cache satellite imagery for offline use
Favorite, archive, and sort images by AOI, provider, or date
These updates support field teams working in emergency response, municipal planning, disaster coordination, and defense operations.
Kate van Dam, Head of Government at SkyFi, stated: “This update is built for users in the field. We're putting satellite access and imagery management directly into the workflows of teams who rely on ATAK every day.”
SkyFi ATAK Plug-in v2 is built with GoTAK and connects directly to the SkyFi platform. It allows users to request commercial satellite imagery based on their defined AOIs. All imagery is organized within ATAK for quick reference, and offline access is supported automatically.
The new version is available now through the Google Play Store. A revised Operator Manual is included with the update.
